The challenge ... and the opportunity
70%
Managers account for at least 70% of the variance in team-level employee engagement. But...

27%
...an ATD study found that only 27% of organizations provided first-time manager preparation before the employee became a manager.
25%
Effective leadership development can lead to a 25% improvement in organizational outcomes like turnover, absences, and profit.
A person's first time leading others feels a lot like stepping through a doorway. Without the right support, a new leader may never fully cross that threshold. They may burn out and leave. Or even worse, they may stay and create problems for others. We've seen it before.
There's a better way. We give high potentials a space to replace individual-contributor mindsets with leadership behaviors.

About

Rob Callan has built talent management and leadership development programs inside General Mills Inc., Post Consumer Brands, CHS Inc., and Roers Companies. He knows the power of a well-prepared leadership bench, and by contrast, the headaches created by inconsistent managers. He created Threshold Thought Partners to make it easier for good people to become great leaders, without sacrificing who they are.
Rob's approach to leadership development combines techniques of assessment, coaching, facilitation and practice to build leadership habits that last. His direct, humorous and engaging style helps new leaders move past the easy answers to arrive at greater self-awareness. He's an iPEC-trained coach, trained in 360 feedback, EOS, Culture Index and DiSC, and an ADI-certified facilitator for Bringing Out the Best in Others.
Impact
Rob meets leaders where they are to help them quickly become more effective and confident in how they lead. I observed that impact repeatedly in his one-on-one work, particularly with newer leaders who were still finding their footing. Rob builds trust quickly, but he doesn’t confuse trust with simply making people feel comfortable. He asks thoughtful questions, communicates directly, and helps people turn insight into clear, practical next steps.
Rob has a unique gift of swiftly and authentically building connection and trust to create partnerships that last. His curiosity and compelling inquiry prompt strategic and thoughtful conversations that move organizations toward growth. Rob cares deeply about the experience he creates for those in partnership with him. He challenges status quo thought patterns to uncover opportunities. His clear and intentional communication style makes working with him easy, actionable and impactful.
Rob has been an incredible resource to me as a leader, particularly when navigating organizational change and restructuring. He has a unique ability to cut through the noise, ask the right questions, and help you think clearly about both the people and the structure needed to move an organization forward. His guidance is practical, thoughtful, and focused on creating lasting results not just solving the issue in front of you.
